THE PROGRAM F THE MINERALOGICAL TOUR (Southern and middle Ural)

Day 1
(10 of June, Sunday)

Arrival in Ekaterinburg. Transfer from airport
Accommodation in hotel «Iset» (standard double rooms). (Time of accommodation – 12.00)
Geological excursion in central part of the Ekaterinburg.
Visit the mineralogical museum. In the museum is a unique collection of minerals (about 10 thousand samples) and handicrafts from stone and bone.
Lunch
Free time.
Dinner – in your own way.

Day 2
(11 of June, Monday)

Breakfast in hotel. Transfer to the town Miass.
On the way:
- Visit the Ufalej nickel deposit. On dumps you can pick up samples garnierite, aragonite, green and brown chalcedony.
- Visit the museum of Ilmenskij reserve. Lunch in forest or cafe.
- You can see world famous gold placers along the river Miass and the place of find of the largest Russian nugget of gold – “Big Triangle”. It will be possible to take part in panning out gold.

Day 3
(12 of June, Tuesday)

Breakfast in a hotel
Transfer to the area of the town Plast
You can see world famous gold placers along the river Sanarka, where pink topazes and euclases were mined. Here it will be possible to take part in panning out gold. Besides it is possible to find here samples of kyanite, quartz with original flattened shape, pink topazes.
Also we’ll visit:
- Borisovskie Hills, where the kyanite mines are situated. You can find attractive samples of kyanite in paragonite schists.
- Pegmatite quarry Svetlyi, where good samples of beryl, topazes, polychrome tourmaline (blue-green), morion, albite, tantalite etc. were mined
Lunch in forest. Return to Miass.
Dinner
Spend the night in a hotel (standard double rooms).

Day 4
(13 of June, Wednesday)

Breakfast in hotel.
Transfer to Ekaterinburg.
On the way:
- Visit the settlement Vishnevogorsk, where the deposit of tantalum - niobium ores is situated.
Mineralogical objects for visiting:
Veins of Mt. Karavaj (“the Loaf”) – a place of first find of mineral vishnevit.
On the slope of this Mountain the famous vein 5 is situated, where the biggest crystals of zircons in the Russia were mined.
In quarry in the settlement you can pick up of samples of microcline, pyrochlore, nepheline, apatite, zircon, sphene, ilmenite, vishnevit, corundum, etc.

- The talc deposit near the Shabry Settlement:
Visit the picturesque deserted talc quarry “the Old lens” with step walls and beautiful waterfalls. Picking up of samples of beautiful green talc, black tourmaline, actinolite, dolomite, quartz, hematite, breunnerite, feldspar, apatite, chlorite, rutile (sagenite).

Day 5
(14 of June, Thursday)

Breakfast in hotel.
Visit gold deposit of Berezovsk town (15 km), which is the native land of golden industry Russia.
Visiting of the place of find of first gold in Russia and the monument to discoverer of gold - Erofei Markov.
Visit the museum "Gold and platinum of Ural".
Visiting the mountain “Gold hill”. It is possible to pick up samples of rock crystals of various morphology, including carbonates, fuchsite, green tourmaline, manganite, pyrolusite, goethite.
Here it will be possible to take part in panning out gold.
Lunch in forest.
Return to Ekaterinburg.
Spend the night in hotel «Iset» (standard double rooms).

Day 6
(15 of June, Friday)

Breakfast in hotel.
Visit the exhibition «Mineral-Show».
The exhibition is the association of collectors of minerals, masters of lapidary, jewelers, professional geologists and admirers of minerals. Traditionally it includes jewelry from natural semi-precious stones, collection samples of minerals, lapidary handicrafts, costume jewellery and people’s handicrafts of the Ural region and Russia.
Lunch in forest or cafe.
Transfer to Nizhnij Tagil.
Visit the famous deposit "Mednorudyanskoe". See the main quarry at Vyusokogorsk - mining-concentrating group of enterprises, which, from 1721 to 1990 was the source of raw materials for metallurgical production in Nizhnij Tagil.
- Visit the famous deposit «Mednorudyanskoe”. This deposit was discovered in 1813. The major amount of uralian malachite of the 19th century was extracted from here. Right here was discovered a gigantic nest of malachite - which gave 480 ton of ornamental malachite, including a monolith of about 40 ton. Mednorudyanskoye deposit is where new minerals such as brochantite and delafossite are found. You can found out on the quarry’s dump specimens of malachite, chrysocolla, brochantite, martite, cuprite, pseudo-malachite, pyrolusite and quartz with hematite.
- Visit the local lore museum of Nizhni Tagil, where wonderful specimens of local stones, rocks and stone crafts are presented.

(16 of June, Saturday)

Breakfast in hotel. Transfer to the village Murzinka.
Visit mineralogical museum by A.E. Fersman in the village Murzinka.
Visit old-time and modern mining-works of semi-precious stones (beryls, topazes, amethysts and others).
Lunch in forest.
Transfer to Ekaterinburg. Accommodation in hotel «Iset» (standard double rooms).
